I think that nowadays the problems which represent the phases of responsibility of a sculptor are not so different from those that have ever existed.

The stylistic knowledge of volumes and surfaces and the dialectics of plains and voids, in one word the measure of rhythm, are always suitable to determine the quality of a sculpture.

The polemic between figurative and not figurative is now outmoded and still. On the contrary the conflict between rhetoric and sincerity, bare illustrative tendencies and poetic energy will never pass away.

For those who are not already known it is almost impossible to be considered by the various judges of important prizes or competitions.

It would be desirable for such personages to give an account of the artistic work of each author by visiting constantly his studies.
